Standing Committees | Description & Responsibilities | 2019-2020 Leadership |
Bylaws & Parliamentarian | Advises the board on parliamentarian rules and keeps current records of chapter bylaws and standing rules. Updates regional and national chairs as needed and prepares quarterly chapter excellence report. A Parliamentarian must be present at all Board and General meetings. Prefer two Co-Parliamentarians in the event one is not able to make it to a meeting. | Melody Mabe |
Membership | All members are part of this committee! Committee chairs are responsible for reaching out to prospective members to answer any questions about membership. Send welcome email packet to all new members, conduct new member installation and announce NAWIC anniversaries at monthly meetings. Professional Development & Education (PD&E) | Identify and coordinate a speaker/program for each meeting. Ensure the meeting location is set up with any AV needs for the speaker. Initiate and promote the educational programs offered by the National Education Foundation (NEF), and provide assistance to those members participating in certification courses. Audit | Reviews the Chapter’s books of the previous fiscal year to ensure entries are backed up and allocated to appropriate budgeted items. | Rachel Saunders |
NEF/Block Kids | Block Kids is the Elementary School Lego construction competition, open to 1st-6th graders. The event typically takes place during the first quarter. Learn More Here | TBD |
Community Engagement | This committee is responsible for arranging community service activities for the chapter. | Katie Smith |
Friendship/Hospitality | This committee is responsible for recognizing member birthdays and other events such as get well, sympathy, etc. Hospitality – Coordinate with meeting location regarding the menu, headcount, special needs, etc. Welcome and check-in members and guests at monthly meetings. Coordinate with Treasurer to reconcile any outstanding ticket sales and present final count to Treasurer at the meeting ends for payment to the meeting location. Provide monthly attendance to the President for the meeting. Share the guest list with Membership for follow-up. Organize and coordinate any raffles or giveaways. | Ruthie Costello Diana Stokes |
Safety/Health | Provide a monthly article for the Chapter newsletter on a topic of interest. Distribute relevant safety/health information to members. This committee may work with the PD&E Chair to provide Safety/Health topic for a monthly program. | TBD |
Communications | Set up Eventbrite for events and distribute announcements via Mailchimp. Receive event information from respective committee chairs. Update website with meeting dates, events, board members, etc. | Katie Smith |
Marketing | This committee is responsible for promoting NAWIC including social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn). Prepare press releases for chapter events (e.g. Block Kids, WIC Week, etc.) and have them published locally. | Katie Smith |
Scholarship | This committee is responsible for reviewing guidelines and making recommendations to the Board if changes are needed. Responsible for distributing application and guidelines to area schools and community groups and answering questions from applicants. Presents applications to Board to vote and notifies recipients.
